Leslie R. Roberts, Attorney-Mediator
Ms. Roberts is an attorney-mediator with more than 15 years experience in a variety of international and domestic commercial and corporate transactions as in-house counsel for major multinational corporations. For 7 of those years, she negotiated with the US and foreign governments to influence policies, laws and regulations affecting commerce, trade, tax and labor matters. Ms. Roberts has dealt extensively with governments in the People's Republic of China, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Mexico and the EU. More recently, she has provided mediation services to businesses to resolve transnational commercial disputes.
Ms. Roberts also offers mediation services in special education, elder care, family, probate and workplace cases where interpersonal conflict is significant.
Ms. Roberts is admitted to practice law in Texas and Oklahoma. She is also a member of the Association of Attorney-Mediators (AAM) and Texas Organization of Parents, Attorneys and Advocates (TOPAA).
Ms. Roberts received a BA with Honors in Communication from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a JD from the University of Tulsa College of Law. Ms. Roberts has studied at the Carl Duisberg Institute in Cologne, Germany, and at the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria. She has also practiced as a foreign lawyer with a multinational manufacturer in Schaan, Principality of Liechtenstein.
Ms. Roberts received a Graduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University, completed the course, "Learn From The Masters" taught by attorney-mediators Sidney Stahl and John Estes, and completed other courses offered by TMCA and AAM. She has also trained with nationally recognized mediators, Bernard Mayer, Robert Benjamin and Nina Meierding.
Ms. Roberts is experienced in special education matters under IDEA and the Rehabilitation Act and is the parent of a special needs child.
Ms. Roberts has worked extensively with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as an outside mediator. She also serves as an adjunct professor in the Institute of Applied Economics at the University of North Texas where she teaches negotiation and mediation courses.
